BTC Norlin Racing’s Daniel Lloyd has become the latest new race winner in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship having produced a fantastic lights-to-flag victory in the final encounter at Croft.
Not only was it the first ever BTCC win for the Yorkshireman, it was made even sweeter by coming at his home circuit. I was also the first top-step success for Daniel's team at BTC Norlin Racing in Britain’s premier motorsport series.
Lloyd was drawn on pole position, having finished race two in ninth spot, and made the perfect start to lead the field into Clervaux for the first time, with a fast-starting Tom Chilton moving into second spot.
During his dominant program in this year's TCR UK series, Daniel has been no stranger to running out front. Again he produced a dominant drive at the head of the pack as he gradually eased away from the chasers behind.
Not only was it a first win for the Huddersfield driver at his home circuit but a first win for the BTC Norlin just two weeks after both of its cars were heavily damaged in the start-line accident at Oulton Park!
“I’m lost for words – I’m so happy,” he said. ‘It means so much to the team as we didn’t know if we’d be out after the damage at Oulton and it’s amazing to get a victory.
“This is just awesome. I know I’m quick and that I can do the job, and credit to the team. To get a win in my fourth day in the car is unbelievable.”
